The Yeon-li clay body creates subtle colour variations between the white , quasi-celadon, facets. Onto this, Kim Deokho reveals fine horizontal lines in bleu clay — tightly spaced, nearly uniform, covering the vessel from shoulder to foot. Where the form curves outward, the lines spread. At the shoulder, they compress. In the lower register, some break into wave arcs, as if the discipline of the pattern briefly gives way. The result reads as a kind of contour map: the geometry of the facets measures the form vertically, the lines measure it horizontally. Nothing is ornamental. Everything is structural.
