At 57 cm, Vestige_YC570_2025 is the largest work in the Vestige series — and the most architecturally singular. The form tapers to a rounded dome at the top, its wide facets curving continuously from base to narrow opening without interruption. Yang-gu kaolin gives the surface its characteristic warmth: grey-white, matte, slightly granular. At the shoulder, a band of cobalt wave marks crosses all the facets at once. Above and below: silence. The piece occupies space the way a monumental object does.

  • YC570_2025 brings together every element that defines Kim Deokho's practice in the Yang-gu register: the kaolin from Gangwon-do, the faceted form cut by hand. What distinguishes it is scale and silhouette. At 57 cm, this is not a vessel you handle — it commands the space it inhabits. The domed top gives the form a directional thrust: upward, closed, resolved.

    The bleu band at the shoulder has more impact than in Kim Deokho's smaller works. Three rows of wave marks, thick and loose. At this scale, the cutting required a different kind of dexterity — the mark reflects it. Above the band: uninterrupted grey-white dome. Below: the long, quiet body of the vessel. The band does not decorate. It divides.
