Where Cup II's facets ripple in a slow wave, Cup III's curve more sharply inward at the waist before flaring back out toward the rim — a silhouette closer to a blossom than a cylinder. The rim itself is not perfectly level, dipping and rising slightly as it travels around the opening.
Lee Songam builds each of his forms this way: asymmetric, weighted unevenly, resistant to easy resolution. In his own words, these shapes are ‘not planned so much as discovered’ — an outward record of an internal, largely unplanned process.
