Cup I takes the cup form — usually the most modest, most functional shape in ceramics — and holds it to the same standard as Lee Songam's largest vessels. The body narrows unevenly from a wide, slightly irregular rim down to a compact, waisted foot, so that no two sides read quite the same from any angle.
That refusal of symmetry is deliberate. For Lee Songam, the object's irregularity is not a flaw to be corrected but the visible trace of an internal process — form discovered through the material rather than planned in advance. In a piece this small, that discovery becomes almost private.
