Cup II is built from eight narrow, faceted planes, but the vertical seams between them do not run straight — they curve gently left and right as they descend, like fabric caught mid-fold. The effect is subtle at this scale, visible mostly as a play of light and shadow across the black surface.
This is the same logic that governs Lee Songam's largest columns and vessels, reduced to the size of a single hand. Weight, mystery, solitude, silence — the qualities he associates with black — are present here too, simply held at a quieter volume.
