The neck of Vase II does not sit centred on the shoulder below it — it leans, almost imperceptibly, as though the piece were caught mid-turn. That torsion is the organising idea of the whole work: two curved lines spiral down from the neck, splitting the surface into panels that widen and narrow unevenly as they reach the faceted hexagonal base.
Lee Songam describes his process as a form of direct self-expression — ‘not self-portraiture, but the outward form of internal energy.’ Vase II is a clear example: a form that looks caught in motion because, in a sense, it was never fully resolved into stillness.
