Vase IX departs from the hexagonal, hard-edged geometry that defines much of Lee Songam's work. Its body is built from wide, softly rounded panels that bulge gently outward, meeting at shallow seams rather than sharp facets — a form closer to a lantern or a seed pod than to a faceted column.
Even within this rounder register, the piece stays true to Lee Songam's broader concern with irregularity: the lobes are not identical, and the neck sits slightly off-centre atop the body, so the roundness never resolves into perfect symmetry.
