Flat Flask is the largest and most vertical work in Shin Suyeon's Seolsan collection on this site — a teardrop body rising to a narrow, spouted neck, with layered bands of mountain silhouette climbing its surface from a dark base to a paler crown. Each band reads as a ridge further into the distance, so the piece gains a sense of recession that the smaller works don't attempt.
At 48 cm, the piece asks for the coiling and carving process behind every Seolsan work to be sustained across a far larger surface — a slower accumulation of the same gesture Shin Suyeon uses at miniature scale. The result is closer to a standing landscape than to a tabletop object.
