Shin Suyeon builds her Seolsan (Snowy Mountain) works by stacking coils of dark clay into a rough mountain form, then carving and refining the silhouette by hand. Mini Black is among the smallest results of that process — a single vessel whose rim is a complete mountain profile, rising to one peak before falling away on either side.
The artist describes the finished works as resonating with ‘how thoughts accumulate over time’ — each stacked coil a layer, each carved line a mark left in passing. At this scale, that accumulation is compressed into an object that fits easily in two hands.
