Mini Brown shares its jagged, multi-peaked silhouette with the other small vessels in the Seolsan series, but its surface tells a different story: a warm brown blush spreads across the lower body, where the kiln's atmosphere met the clay unevenly during firing. No two firings produce the same gradient.
For Shin Suyeon, this unpredictability is part of the work rather than a flaw in it — the coiled clay and its marks are built by hand, and the fire adds a final layer she does not fully control, closer to weather acting on an actual mountainside than to a designed finish.
